"So this is the New Year?
And I don't feel any different.
So this is the New Year?
And I have no resolutions
for self assigned penance
for problems with easy solutions."
- Death Cab For Cutie
This year, I sat on the pier looking out over the lake with my sister, while the fireworks shot up across from us. Their brilliant lights reflected off the water, just like the thundering sound, which came a few seconds delayed. Sounds from parties surrounded us; we seemed alone in our silent reflection of the past year. I realized that I didn't need a new year to change my life, change the way I look at things, change the way I act. God has brought me enough change in the past year - challenges to change and grow have been near me all throughout the year.
I don't know what I want this year. I want to follow my Light whole-heartedly. I want Him to lead me. I want to be bold in my love for Him and other people. But I'm not sure where the Almighty is calling me to go, what He wants me to
do this year, in the sense of getting a job, or whether I should change majors. In fact, all of the coming years seem uncertain... I hope God will make my path clear to me as the year goes on.
One thing I do want - I wish I could be in two places at once! I wish I could be at Covenant
and home... But, even though I miss everyone so much, and I'm sad to miss out on things happening at home, I really am glad to be at Covenant. God's been working in me, and I'm excited to go back and learn more about Him and myself.
"I wish the world was flat like the old days
Then we could travel just by folding a map.
No more airplanes, or speed trains, or freeways
There'd be no distance that could hold us back."
